How it all began
The Delny glamping dream came into fruition in 2017 when the Daniels family moved to the highlands from England to embark on a new adventure. In tow we brought 4 children, 1 dog, 2 chickens and a Giant French lop rabbit. The vision was and still is, to create a beautiful environment that families, friends and couples can come and spend much needed quality time together.
History
Delny Glamping is set within the grounds of Delny House which is occupied by the owners “The Daniels Family”. The house itself is steeped in history. Tales of clan warfare, bloody deeds and treachery abound. Parts of the house date back to the 13th century – the latest addition was the turret, which was added in 1898.
In the 16th century the barony of Delny stretched across a vast tract of land – from Alness river to Tarbat Ness. A couple of centuries earlier the Castle of Delny stood on this site. As yet, no trace of this castle has been found.
Idyllic setting
The Delny glamping grounds are abundantly alive with native plants and flowers all growing naturally for all to see. This beauty reflects the seasons of the year and in all honesty is just as favourable to the eye as the last. The plants are not the only things that reflect the beauty of our surroundings, our Friendly, adorable plethora of different animals will be sure to catch your eye.
A place for animal lovers
A dazzling array of species of chicken, long necked Indian runner ducks and beautiful Muscovy ducks all gracing the landscape as they roam freely around the grounds.
When it comes to goats , Tina and Cher will definitely never be the ‘but’ of the joke. Our Elegant pygmy twosome are always on hand to show our guests love and affection, especially for an apple or two.
Our guests experience cute overload as they watch all of our fluffy Angora rabbits running around their purpose built rabbit pen.
The trotter brothers “Del-boy and Rodney” our miniature Shetland ponies share their paddock with the friendliest sheep ever known! Ian our Valais Black nosed sheep and his two lucky ladies Alison and Claire love all the attention they can get.
But…….. the real star of the show is our gorgeous and loveable Kune Kune cross Pot Bellied Pig – Kevin Bacon. He is the leader of the pack and in charge of the Delny animal crew and he knows it. Call his name when you arrive and he will come to the gate to make his presence known!
